About Jill Ashton

Jill Ashton was born in Melbourne in 1943, moved to Adelaide in 1945 and has lived in Western Australia since 1999. She is married with two sons who still live in Adelaide.

Jill trained at Adelaide Teachers' College and the South Australian School of Art, receiving a diploma in art teaching. She has taught in South Australian high schools, T.A.F.E. and junior art classes.

Her works have been exhibited with the Royal South Australian Society of Arts and the Adelaide Art Society, as well as a number of group shows and art competitions. She has been awarded numerous prizes in S.A. and W.A., and is represented in collections in U.S.A, Singapore and South Africa as well as Australia.

Jill is painting predominately in oils and watercolour at present, although she has worked in all media; and would like the time to go back to printmaking.

She also illustrates children’s books and has been commissioned for private and technical publications.

Jill is currently enjoying Western Australia with husband and two cats, and is a member of the Watercolour Society of W.A., as well as the Rockingham Water colour Society.

(Jill also makes doll houses and miniatures, should anyone be interested in really small pictures!)
